  • Restorations

    - Tooth coloured materials (composite resin and Glass ionomer cement) are permanent filling materials for both anterior and posterior teeth commonly of choice nowadays.
    - Conventional amalgam is also used for filling posterior teeth.
    - Temporary fillings by various cements to relieve symptoms before permanent restorations are placed are also commonly used

  • Root Canal Therapy (RCT)

A more radical treatment to decayed teeth is RCT. Root canal therapy is necessary when the nerve of a tooth is affected by decay or infection. In order to save the tooth for its function of chewing or aesthetics, the pulp which is the living tissue inside the tooth (nerves, vessels) affected by decay and infection is removed and the canal/space filled with special, medicated, dental materials, which restore the tooth to its full function.

  • Gum Didease/Periodontal Treatment

Gingivitis is inflammation of the gums due to plaque (food remains and bacteria) on teeth near the gum.
    - Regular professional cleaning is recommended and instructions on improving daily oral hygiene habits. Periodontitis is inflammation of the gums, ligaments and bones structures supporting the teeth. The outcome of neglected periodontal disease is tooth loss, bone resorption and a depressed mouth morphology. A special periodontal cleaning called scaling and root planning (deep cleaning) to remove calculi by hand or ultrasonic scalers is usually recommended.
    - Management of halitosis (bad breath)

  • Oral And Maxillofacial Surgery.

    - Extraction of milky teeth
    - Extraction of permanent teeth
    - Extraction of impacted teeth (wisdom teeth)

    - Management of mandibular bone fractures by intermaxillary fixation (IMF).
    - Other minor surgical procedures
Major operations like Mandibulectomy (mandible resectioning) or wide tumor excision, or cases requiring cancer therapy, will be promptly referred to specialized referral hospitals. We follow up our cases at various referral hospitals especially Muhimbili National hospital.
